Virtual Sessions
LISD Virtual Sessions Schedule
LISD 21 Things participants will be expected to view the original Archived Recordings for each of the 21 things which have been pre-recorded. Links to these sessions will be posted in the Moodle course for each 21Things assignment. In case any participants choose to connect live, a schedule will be posted each term for any live sessions that coincide with LISD 21Things dates.
For Lenawee 21 Things for the 21st Century Educator 2014-15 3 learning strands, all virtual session recording links will be posted on the course Moodle site and login is required for access.

Just in Time Training Using Adobe Connect Pro ™
A “webinar,” is an online, web-based professional development event, where participants meet virtually on the web rather than face-to-face. Participants access this synchronous professional development through the use of a computer and Internet Connection, logging into a specific URL and listening to the presenter over Voice-Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Often, a webinar will be recorded so that the learning experience can be available for broadcast to other learners at a different time in the future.
It’s very important to test your computer’s connection ability ahead of time. Please read important information in the "Getting Ready" section below well before the date of the first session to make sure you will be able to connect.
Virtual presenters are using Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro. Once you have tested your hardware and connection (per instructions in the next section on "Getting Ready") you will be ready to access each meeting, by logging in to a virtual classroom. Once virtual classroom sessions have been scheduled for the term, dates will be posted in the LISD Moodle course. If participants cannot attend on the scheduled dates, they will have the option of viewing the archived virtual session recordings.
Registered participants will receive via email a link to the virtual session room on the day of the scheduled session. The webinar room will open approximately 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. To enter the room, type your name in the “Guest” field and then click “Enter the Room.” Participants should not need to download any specific software – the meeting is web-based. If you already have the Adobe Flash plugin on your computer, you won’t need to add anything. Please Note: A slow or dial-up connection will not work.
To login, enter your own name in the Guest field and click "Enter Room" to find yourself in the LISD 21 Things virtual classroom. You will see other participant names appearing in the chat area as they join in. Go ahead and use this area to communicate with them and ask questions.
The course instructor will present to you from his/her desktop computer, share his/her screen, answer questions, and talk more about how to better integrate some of the 21 Things topics into the classroom.
Participation in the Virtual Sessions is optional, but it is expected that participants who are taking the "21 Things" for credit (SB-CEU or Grad Credit) will view all of the Archived Recordings. Live sessions may sometimes be recorded and archived to watch at a later time if participants are unable to attend at that time. Links to the archived videos will be posted and accessible through the Moodle course. If unable to attend live virtual sessions, participants may view any other agency virtual sessions to fulfill the learning requirements.

Getting Ready - Before You Connect - TEST CONNECTION CAPABILITY!
Ahead of time: Please check your browser to make sure your computer can connect to the virtual classroom session successfully (a slow, or dial-up connection will not work).
Step 1: Test Your Software and Connection Speed
Please follow the links below to test your ability to connect. Here are some steps you should try prior to the first meeting date.
To test your software and connection speed, go to:
Adobe Connect Meeting Connection Test: https://admin.acrobat.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm
This website will run several diagnostics:
Step 2: Connect to the webcast
On the scheduled day and time (about 15 minutes before the webcast begins), connect to the virtual meeting room via the link provided. Enter the site as a Guest and use your own name to enter the meeting room. If the program asks to install the Adobe Connect 'add-in', allow the program to install (only takes a few seconds). (Note: If you do not have administrative rights on your school computer to install add-ins, you will blocked. That’s why it is so important to test your hardware ahead of the scheduled meeting to allow time for troubleshooting this problem with your district’s technical support staff.)
As is the nature of technology, sometimes things happen over which we have no control. Should it be necessary to cancel either of these sessions because of “technical difficulties” (i.e. the server is down; poweroutage, etc.), every attempt will be made to reschedule them at a convenient time for all.
Please Note: A slow or dial-up connection will not work.
